Verisign, the central domain entity responsible for .com and .net domain registrations raised the cost of those two domain types. This effected our wholesale domain registration vendor (and us) on July 1, 2010. The .com and .net registrations are now $9.99 per year.

Gem3 Web Hosting Information:

If you will be hosting your domain with us, then you may select the default hosted servers at the time of your domain registration.

If you are going through an outside registrar, such as register.com or godaddy.com, use:

You retain complete control of your domain and may host your registered domains here with us or elsewhere with the web host of your choice. All transferred domains will have at least one year added to their existing expiration date; there is no need to wait until the last minute to transfer your domain.

Domain Registration PayPal Information:

We have both a manual and an automated method to accept PayPal payments for domain registration services. To decrease fraud, the automated registration system only directly accepts PayPal if you have associated a credit card with your PayPal account. (The card does not need to be used for payment.) If you do not have a credit card associated with your PayPal account, you can still order domain names using the manual system below.

Manual PayPal Domain Registration Instructions:

If you wish to order your domain registration using PayPal, but do not have a credit card associated with the account, please check for name availability, but use the PayPal payment button below to pay. Please enter your domain name(s) as the payment description and include the appropriate cost per name, usually $8.99 for most registrations. See the pricing table above.

Important: Please include your Name, Address, and Phone Number in the notes. Domain registration requires you to be entered into the Global Domain Registry Database. If you fail to include any of this information you will simply delay the registration as we email you to ask for it.

If you live in the U.S., be aware that our automated system also takes direct eCheck payments from any U.S. bank account. This will let you avoid the delay of us manually verifying the transaction.

PayPal Possible Registration Delay Information:

Payments from your PayPal balance are sent instantly.

When sending money directly from your bank account with PayPal and no credit card is associated with the PayPal account, PayPal will send an eCheck instead of an instant payment. This will result in a delay of multiple days (normally three to four) before the funds are actually sent to us and your domain name is registered. This is a PayPal account funding policy and we have no control over it. We accept PayPal eChecks; we just wanted to make sure you understood how they work.

The domain remains available for domain registration until the PayPal payment funds arrive and we process the next batch of manually-posted registrations. If you are registering a domain and are concerned that someone may register it during the PayPal eCheck funding period of time, please pre-fund your PayPal account so you can send an instant payment or use one of the faster payment options available.

If you will be sending an eCheck payment and live in the U.S. vicinity, you may wish to choose the electronic check payment option in our automated system instead. Because of the arrangement with the electronic check processing company, it will process the registration immediately.

Helpful Hint: If you are shopping for domain names and are not able to send instant payments, you may wish to pre-fund your PayPal account with around $10.00 so that when you find the name you like, you can have it registered immediately without payment delays.

Expired Domain Redemption Cost

All domain names (except UK and Japanese domains) have a 12 day grace period after their expiration date when they can be renewed for the normal renewal cost. Beyond this grace period, the domain wholesaler charges an $80 domain redemption fee to renew expired domains. A redemption fee for domains expired beyond their grace period is standard for the industry and charged by all domain registrars; you will find it in all domain registrar domain registration agreements if you search for redemption. Should you choose to renew a domain beyond this period, please be aware that we have no control over nor do we make any profit from this fee.

Please renew your domains before, on or shortly after the due date so that you do not ever pay a redemption fee!

UK and Japanese Domain Name Renewal Information

UK domain registrations can only be renewed in the automated system if they are renewed before the 20th of the month prior to the month of their expiration date. They can be renewed over the phone using the central domain office's Domain Registration Support Hotline number (US 480-624-2500) up until the day before their date of expiration. If we initally processed your order as a manual registration, we can process the renewal the same way, but it saves us much time if it is before the 20th of the month prior to the month of the expiration date. There is no renewal grace period for expired .uk domains and if they are not renewed prior to the expiration date, they will incur an additional cost of $80 beyond the normal $24/2-years renewal cost ($104 total). The late renewal redemption cost is from the domain wholesaler and Gem3 makes no profit from this fee.

Please renew your UK domain names early!

Japanese domain registrations do not permit the use of registrant name hiding services and the registrant name cannot be modified after registration. In addition, Japanese domains must be renewed before the 20th of the month prior to the month of their expiration date or they will immediately incur an additional cost of $120 beyond the normal $100/year renewal cost ($220 total). For clarity: Japanese domains can incur an additional renewal cost the month before they expire. Please renew your Japanese domain names early. The late renewal redemption cost is from the domain wholesaler and Gem3 makes no profit from this fee.

Please do not wait for the expiration month on Japanese domain renewals!
